Welcome to our 2021-2022 Religious Education Program!
Given all the uncertainties of the surge of the COVID-19 Delta variant, our Religious Education Program will begin as a Home Study program on October 3. Our hope is that, beginning in January, we may be able to bring some classes onsite in small groups. We will reevaluate the situation as it changes. Our program is an opportunity to continue your child's religious education both in knowledge and spiritual development. Your child(ren) will be able to prepare for Sacraments and keep up with the yearly curriculum.
- What is the Home Study Program?
Similar to our Sunday School program, students will be assigned to their appropriate classes and a Parish Catechist. However, it will be a child's own parent that actually conducts the lessons. This will include use of the physical textbook and the textbook company's online resources and assignments. The role of the Parish Catechist will be to guide parents through the curriculum and lessons via email and, if needed, a parent phone or parent zoom meeting. Parish Catechists would designate a day of the week in which parents would expect the email to arrive. Parents should set aside a regular day and time to conduct the lessons. As per the Archdiocesan requirements for a Home Program, the Parish Catechist will email only the child's parent and not the child. Parents will teach only their own child(ren).
- We will begin October 3 with class information, introductions, textbook pickup, and any additional details.
- Registration packet has been sent out on Flocknote email and posted in the menu options on this webpage.
- Register by September 7. We will need time to organize class lists and have enough textbooks available. Late registration is by September 12 for available classes. No registration forms will be accepted between September 13 and October 3. Registration will reopen on October 4. - There is no fee for the program. Donations are gratefully appreciated.
I will order textbooks that parents can pickup at the rectory. I will designate days/times for book pickup. This is a new program and mode of teaching that we began last year. I imagine there will be glitches along the way but hopefully not many. Let us be patient and kind to ourselves and one another as we navigate through this continued difficult time.
Parents are the first and most important educators of their children. Our goal is to assist you in the Religious Education of your children. I am encouraged by being able to offer this program at this most challenging time that we can continue supporting you in providing religious education for your child.
